Our scholarship program started around 2018 with a single student because some local children were unable to attend school due to poverty and their family situation. Now we have 23 children (in 7 schools) studying around rural area of Kailali and Kanchanpur District from primary to high school.
The risk is that these children would end up being illiterate, child laborer's or being trafficked. Currently Nepal's national literacy rate stands at 77.4% and in rural areas it's even below national average.
We are in regular contact with partnered schools and students. The School re-assess students annually on both, the family's need and whether the student is engaging in their education.
Our scholarship program runs on year to year basis on available funds and supports.
